The first 30 days are where routines are built, trust is formed, and your new little companion begins to understand their place in your home. And while it can feel overwhelming at times, you’re not starting from scratch - not with a Sappy Paws puppy!
One of the biggest questions new puppy owners have is: “Will they sleep through the night?”
The good news is, most of our puppies already have a strong start!!!
Before going home, they are gently introduced to kennel bedtime routines and are typically sleeping for longer stretches at night. This helps make those first few nights feel far less stressful and gives your whole family a better chance to rest.
Potty training is another area where early preparation makes a huge difference.
At Sappy Paws, we begin laying that foundation early. Puppies are introduced to consistent potty habits and routines, so when they arrive home, they’re already on the right track. During those first few weeks, your main focus should be simple:
Create a routine: Meals, walks, and bedtime around the same time daily.
Offer reassurance: Lots of love, happy tone of voice, and encouragement.

There will be moments that feel easy, and moments that feel like a learning curve. That’s completely normal!
The important thing to remember is that your puppy is learning everything for the first time: where to sleep, where to go potty, what your voice means, and how to feel safe in a brand new environment. You’re not alone in that process, and you are doing a great job!
